Why My Blog is Called “Blooming Journées”

In recent years, I have been obsessed with the idea of growing.

Not necessarily the physical aspect of growth itself–nor am I talking about plants–but rather, the emotional and mental component of it. We, as humans, are growing each and every day–some in good ways and others in…questionable ways. Nonetheless, we are constantly changing and evolving.

I like to consider myself a work-in-progress. I’m just a character in a bigger story called life. My story isn’t perfect–I am so unbelievably far away from that concept–but I am working on it. Well, more like God is writing it for me. Thank goodness for that.

And as life happens and time passes, I am blooming.

The latter half of my blog’s name is French. You know, for someone who took seven semesters of French (three in high school and four in college), I really don’t know as much as I should. Super unfortunate, really; however, even though my French expertise is intermediate at best–and doesn’t qualify me to be trilingual–I love the language so much.

Also, I know that romance languages are supposed to sound beautiful, but I still can’t get over it. So, when I was thinking about blog names, adding a bit of French in there only seemed right.

Journées means days in French. I know you’re wondering: why that word? And in all honesty, it’s because I’m simply taking life one day at a time. Yesterday has already passed, and there is no guarantee for tomorrow. The reality is, life is short.

Therefore, make the most of your days and live them in full bloom.
