I love denim. Scratch that–I’m obsessed with denim.
Originally, I wanted to create a post called How I Style: My Favorite Pair of Jeans. However, since I love all of my jeans for different reasons, I really couldn’t pick just one pair to style. And so, instead, I’m doing a series of “How I Style” posts with a few different types of jeans I own.
First up is one of my most prized professions (I know–it sounds ridiculous to even call an item of clothing that–but I truly value my clothes so much).
People ask about these jeans all the time. Everyone wants to know where I got them. The truth is, I thrifted these Guess mom jeans from Goodwill–for literally less than $5. Talk about a steal. And the crazy thing is, I almost didn’t pick them up off the rack. Because as much as I love thrifting, I really hate trying on clothes. So, I don’t like wasting my time trying on things that aren’t going to fit me. These have a size 30 label (definitely vintage sizing for sure); so, I was a bit skeptical.
Turns out they were actually a little big for me. Lol. I really wish I captured the moment I tried these on in the Goodwill fitting room. I literally jumped up and down because I was so excited–thrifting for jeans is difficult, dude. And when you find a pair that fit and are super cute, it’s a great day.
I love these jeans for a number of reasons, but a major one is the denim itself. The denim is thick and super high quality. Also, these jeans are super high-waisted as well. I’m that girl who only wears high-waisted jeans because low-rise gives me PTSD (thanks, middle school) and these go way above my belly button. Sometimes, when I put these on after not wearing them for a while, I get shocked at how high the rise is.
So, enjoy these 5 different fits perfectly tailored to fit this spring season.
Outfit #1: Keepin’ It Simple
You can never go wrong with a simple white t-shirt and jeans combo. Not only is it classic, but it will always be a look. I own about five different white tops, so I’m sporting this look 80-percent of the time.
Outfit #2: Denim on Denim
I’m such a hoe for denim-on-denim. Call it the Canadian tuxedo if you must, but you can’t deny how good denim-on-denim actually looks. I don’t wear this look that often these days, but my love for denim has no limits.
My favorite way to pair denim-on-denim is to commit all the way and wear the same washes head-to-toe. If you’re scared to hop on the trend, but don’t know where to start, try pairing different washes as I did here!
Outfit #3: A Picnic for One
This is probably the girliest top I own. It feels that way to me because of the fit; flowy, with that tie detail. Not to mention the pastel blue screams spring. To me, this time of year is synonymous with the word feminine. I tend to dress the same all-year-round, which means I don’t have a “spring” wardrobe.
However, I wanted to challenge myself to dress a little more outside my norm. Plus, this top is actually really cute and I love picnics. A win-win situation.
Outfit #4: The Cool Girl
Not that I consider myself to be “cool” or anything, but this outfit is much more me. I feel at home in leather and chunky shoes.
#5: For Date Night
Okay, so this date night outfit is super casual. But do you see those shoes? They’re to die for and definitely elevate the casual vibes. Goes to show that shoes can make a world of difference.
